The SCSS organizes an international on: Yemeni Workers and the Demands of the Labor Market in the Arabian Gulf States

The first consultative meeting was held on Sunday, November 1, 2009, to discuss certain issues concerning the international conference about "Yemeni Workers and the Demands of the Gulf Labor Market," which is to be convened by Sheba Center for Strategic Studies (SCSS) in collaboration with a number of the relevant agencies in Yemen and the GCC states and participants on behalf of the Arab and International Labor Organization.

In his opening remarks, the Executive Director of the SCSS, Dr. Ahmed A. Saif, pointed out that this conference would be one of the events the SCSS aims to conduct in order to discuss some issues that are of paramount significance for Yemen and to come up with visions and projections that can assist the decision makers in the country to qualify Yemeni workers for the labor market in the Gulf.
The meeting was presided over by the Minister of Technical and Vocational Training, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Hajri, and among the attendance were a number of representatives of the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, the Ministry of Expatriates Affairs, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, and the Secretariat of the Cabinet, and other specialized researchers. The meeting discussed the proposed themes to be presented in the conference and which would cover the legislative and legal frameworks governing Yemeni workers' issues in the country and the Gulf, the future Yemen-Gulf relationships, the Gulf labor market, and the requirements for qualifying Yemeni workers.
The participants expressed their appreciation for this initiative taken on the part of the SCSS, underscoring the necessity for coordination between the concerned authorities in order to come up with an overall and practical vision to provide Yemeni workers with employment opportunities in the states of the Arab Gulf.
