Tuesday, 19 August, 2008—Sheba Center for Strategic Studies (SCSS) positioned in Sana'a, Republic of Yemen, and the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Researches, positioned in Abu Dhabi, UAE, signed a Scientific Cooperation Protocol.

The Protocol was signed by Dr. Ahmed A. Saif, SCSS's Executive Director, and Dr. Jamal Saned Al-Suwaidi, ECSSR's General Manager. It stipulates that both Centers exchange publications issued by either one of the respective parties—provided that such publications be related to either party's area of interest. Along with exchanging researchers, both Centers agreed upon conducting common researches on topics to be agreed upon in advance and laying down a schedule outlining the time for accomplishing such works under focus. The Protocol mandates that both parties exchange mutual visiting researchers and hold meetings to go over the latest advancement and development in scientific and research arenas and activities carried out by both parties. They further agreed on attending each other's conferences, seminars, workshops, and other relevant events conducive to enhance the scientific cooperation and ties between them. It is worth noting that the Protocol duration is effective for a period of two years from the date of signing the protocol. Yet it could be renewed for a similar period of time upon both parties' consent. Needless to say, both parties highly praised and applauded the signing of this Protocol, which aims at augmenting and activating both parties' means of cooperation.
